Nicole Provencher
MA, LMHC, LPC
She/Her/Hers
Nicole became a therapist because she fell in love with untangling and understanding the “why” behind human behaviors. Nicole’s journey began with a deep curiosity about the criminal justice system and cases that raised complex questions about trauma, control, and human vulnerability. Rather than focusing on labels or headlines, Nicole was drawn to understanding what leads people to harmful behaviors—and how those patterns develop over time.
This interest led her to work with individuals involved in the legal system, including interning with probation and supporting people who had committed sexual offenses. Through this work, she discovered a strong passion for helping individuals explore the roots of their actions with honesty, accountability, and compassion. She went on to earn her master’s degree in forensic and Correctional Mental Health Counseling, specializing in complex and high-stakes correctional and forensic clinical work.
Over time, Nicole realized that the same desire to understand “why” applies to everyone—whether someone is navigating anxiety, trauma, relationships, life transitions, or self-doubt. She believes every person has a story, and every pattern once served a purpose.
In practice, Nicole offers a warm, collaborative, and grounded approach to therapy. She balances empathy with gentle challenges, insight with practical tools, and emotional support with real-life strategies. When appropriate, she also uses thoughtful humor to help ease tension, build connection, and remind clients that healing doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. Her goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and more capable of creating lasting change.
If you’re looking for a therapist who will truly listen, understand your story, and walk alongside you with care, clarity, and authenticity, Nicole would be honored to work with you.
Nicole’s journey into mental health work began in San Diego, where she taught individuals with disabilities how to swim and served as a cadet with the San Diego Police Department—early experiences that shaped her respect for both compassion and accountability. She later attended Washington State University (Go Cougs!), where she worked at a counseling center supporting psychosocial rehabilitation groups.
Nicole has lived in Bend since October 2025 because she wanted to be closer to family and when Nicole visited, she was sold by the gorgeous views of central Oregon.
Nicole enjoys spending time in nature with friends and family. Nicole enjoys baking sourdough, going for walks in nature, spending time in bodies of water, discovering new areas, trying all the breweries and food trucks.
Nicole’s hope for every client is that therapy becomes a place where you feel safe to be real, brave enough to grow, and confident enough to move forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start. You just have to be willing to begin.
If you’re ready to invest in yourself, explore your story, and create meaningful change, I would be honored to be part of your journey.
